In our fast-paced, oft-demanding world, consumers are all about convenience. That's one of the main reasons why some choose to turn their cheek when it comes to electric vehicles. It's not that drivers are uninterested in helping out Mother Nature; rather most simply don't want to deal with the hassle of finding charging stations and spending hours upon hours plugged in.
We at Infiniti of Tucson get that and so do the masterminds behind our favorite luxury arm, Infiniti. In fact, come 2014, the automaker will introduce its all-new EV and with it, a revolutionary inductive charging system. Completely negating the inconvenience that can come with EV charging, the new system employs an electromagnetic field from an underground coil to transfer energy to the vehicle's battery pack. This means that drivers could simply park over the charging area, go about their daily tasks, and then come back to a fully-charged vehicle.
Aside from the obvious convenience-factor present with inductive charging, there are many additional benefits that the integration of such systems would bring. Mark Perry, Director of Product Planning and Advanced Technology, says, "Street-side parking with cords dangling from EVs would eventually go away."1 Perry also points out that the technology opens up a wide range of future, on-the-go charging possibilities. For example, coils could be embedded in infrastructure like traffic lights and EV drivers could charge as they roam through the city.
Not only do these EV advancements bode well for Infiniti but they signify a potentially major revolution in environmentally-safe driving. An unabashed desire to pioneer the future is just one of the brand traits we admire so much in Infiniti. If you'd like to experience the luxury arm for yourself, please don't hesitate to check out our lineup of new Infiniti models online or in person at Infiniti of Tucson, 625 W Auto Mall Dr. Tucson, AZ 85705.
